Terms of Service

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Effective date: October 9, 2026

In short: Use Docvexa freely for lawful purposes. Your files stay on your device. We provide the Service "as is" and aren't liable for how you use it. Please keep backups of important documents.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Docvexa ("the Service", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree to any part of these Terms, please don't use the Service.

If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Docvexa provides browser-based PDF processing tools, including conversion, editing, merging, splitting, compressing, OCR, and related document operations. All processing occurs locally in your web browser โ€” no files are uploaded to our servers.

The Service is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use, subject to these Terms. We may introduce premium features in the future, but core tools will remain accessible without payment.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Docvexa. If you're under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a way that doesn't infringe the rights of others. You may not:

  • Use the Service to process documents containing illegal content, including CSAM, pirated material, or content that violates applicable laws
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary portions of our source code
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically harvest content from the Service
  • Use automated systems in ways that impose unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Resell, redistribute, white-label, or commercially re-host the Service without written permission
  • Use the Service to infringe intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
  • Introduce malware, exploits, or other harmful code
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Bypass or circumvent security features or usage limits

5. Your Content & Documents

You retain full ownership of all documents, files, and content you process using the Service. Because processing happens entirely in your browser, we never receive, store, or claim any rights to your content.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to process any content you use with the Service.

6. Intellectual Property

The Docvexa platform, including its code, design, branding, user interface, and original content, is owned by Docvexa and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

The Service relies on open-source libraries (such as pdf-lib, Tesseract.js, PDF.js, and others), each governed by its respective license. We acknowledge and thank the open-source community that makes this Service possible.

7. Privacy & Data Processing

Our Privacy Policy governs how we collect and handle data. In summary: all PDF processing happens in your browser, your files are never uploaded, and we collect only anonymous usage analytics. Please review the Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We don't warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
  • Processing results will match the output of professional desktop software exactly
  • The Service will meet all your specific requirements or use cases
  • Any defects or errors will be corrected

Always keep backup copies of important documents before processing them. We're not responsible for data loss, document corruption, or lost work resulting from use of the Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOCVEXA, ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity
  • Damage to documents, files, or systems
  • Costs of substitute services
  • Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed USD $100 or the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Docvexa and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

11. Service Availability & Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may add, remove, or change features. We're not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to deny access to the Service to anyone who violates these Terms, abuses the Service, or acts in a manner that could harm other users or our infrastructure.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be effective when posted, indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes may be communicated via a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by applicable local laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved informally. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in competent courts, as applicable.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Docvexa regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
